Ennio Yappor, the 17-year-old quarterback from Miami Norland Senior High School, is challenging football norms and set to break records. Displaying a linebacker’s build and an unmatched heart on the field, Yappor aims to redefine quarterback standards and leave a lasting legacy for Norland.Despite standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 225 pounds, Yappor is determined to redefine standards with his exceptional skills and heart on the field. “One of the main things in me is that I have heart,” expressed Yappor. “I’ll forever fight and I’ll forever continue to fight. I fear no man. I feel like, when I have that attitude when I go into games just thinking that, ‘If I do my best,’ I know how I could perform.” Since he started playing football, Yappor is on pace to shatter the Miami-Dade County passing record, held by Taron “Tiger” Dickens.“A standard I really wanna change that the game is changing, that sometimes a quar...Recognising the complementarity of reuse and recycling is the solution

Ahead of the plenary vote on the proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), a large group of European and national associations across various sectors are expressing serious concerns regarding the approach to reuse adopted by the European Parliament’s Environment Committee (ENVI) on October 24.Many sectors recognize the good progress made on the draft PPWR in a number of areas which will help industry to achieve its circular ambitions. However, they are highly concerned with the amendments to Article 26 of the draft PPWR related to the reuse targets, which have been adopted by the ENVI committee, and in particular the following two elements:1. The possibility provided to member countries to go beyond the proposed increased reuse targets without any justification needed. This goes directly against the objective of the European Commission to promote harmonization and risks fragmenting the EU single market by creating a patchwork of national targets that will have a consi...Welcome back, David Cameron! Europe congratulates ex-UK PM on return

The EU probably thought it would never see David Cameron again. But on Monday, the former U.K. prime minister stunningly vaulted back into front-line British politics, being appointed foreign secretary by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Despite Cameron’s role in instigating the Brexit referendum which caused years of friction between the EU and the U.K., at least some of the Continent’s top politicians are happy to see him back. “Welcome back, David Cameron!” Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte gushed on Monday morning, about his one-time European Council counterpart with whom he shared similar views on free trade and liberal economics. “Congratulations on your appointment as Foreign Minister, dear David Cameron. I am looking forward to working with you guided by the close partnership between our countries — within NATO, the G7, and in the context of the EU-UK relationship which is more important than ever,” German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock beame...EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell to visit Israel this week

Josep Borrell will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories this week, the European Union’s top diplomat announced Monday.Borrell will travel to “Israel, Palestine, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar & Jordan” to “discuss humanitarian access & assistance & political issues with regional leaders,” he said.Originally planned for early December, the EU foreign policy chief’s visit comes amid an ongoing airborne and ground offensive from Israeli forces on Gaza, in retaliation for Hamas’ surprise attacks against Israel on October 7, which killed around 1,200 people.Israel’s offensive on the Gaza Strip has killed more than 11,000 people according to the Hamas-run health authorities in Gaza, which is home to around two million people. Israel has also restricted access to food, water and fuel in Gaza for the past month.Borrell recently came under fire from EU diplomats after he took public positions on the conflict that went beyond w...A Baltimore paperboy collected an Orioles Babe Ruth baseball card in 1914. Soon, it will be auctioned for millions.

A Baltimore paperboy sold newspapers on the cities and streetcars of Baltimore in 1914, likely for one or two cents each. Along the way, he collected baseball cards of Baltimore Orioles players included in that day’s paper. He treasured them — particularly one of George Herman Ruth, a 19-year-old pitcher for the minor league Orioles — for years, eventually passing them on to his son. That Ruth card is now one of only a handful still around. And soon, it will be auctioned for the first time since it was issued 109 years ago. It’s expected to fetch at least several million dollars and could potentially compete for the title of priciest baseball card ever, a record currently held by a Mickey Mantle rookie card sold for $12.6 million last year.Archibald Davis, the paperboy who was 16 years old at the time, grew up to play semiprofessional baseball and later passed the cards down. Glenn Davis, Archibald’s grandson, remembered playing with them as he grew up in...Chicago Bears Q&A: Ryan Poles backed Matt Eberflus, but what’s the status of the coach? How will the O-line look when Nate Davis returns?

The Chicago Bears had some extra time this week between Thursday’s 16-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers and Sunday when they face the NFC North-leading Lions in Detroit.Heading into Week 11, there are still many questions surrounding the coach, the culture and the contracts. Brad Biggs answers your Chicago Bears questions, which have been lightly edited, each week. After hearing Ryan Poles talk about Matt Eberflus in his last news conference, what are the honest chances he actually gets fired come the end of the season if they win a couple more games? I think the team overall is playing hard and the run defense is playing eons better than last year — a key responsibility of his. But the pass defense is still bad for many reasons. Clearly they love his culture at Halas Hall given how much they use the word. I think it’s also important to not forget this is an organization that kept John Fox for a third year after a 6-10 and 3-13 seasons. — Gerry M., Chicago...Community centres, arenas reopening in Oakville as town, workers union ratify deal

GENEVA (AP) — Olympic sports bodies want urgent talks with the IOC about the risk of cuts in their revenue shares and medal events at the 2028 Los Angeles Games because cricket and other newcomers were added to the program. The International Olympic Committee last month approved cricket, baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse and squash for 2028 and kept boxing, modern pentathlon and weightlifting — three sports whose status had been in doubt. The umbrella group of current Summer Games sports, known by the acronym ASOIF, said Monday the decision to increase to a record 36 sports “has raised several questions” among its members, who collectively shared $540 million of IOC-allocated money at each of the past two Olympics. Most Olympic sports got between $13 million and $17.3 million from the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. For some, that was about half their total income over four years.Adding four team sports in 2028 also is set to break the IOC’s preferred limit of 10,500 ath...Toronto police looking for injured person after ‘significant amount of blood’ found near reported stabbing

ROME (AP) — The converted monastery in the Vatican gardens that served as Pope Benedict XVI’s retirement home will once again house a small community of nuns.Pope Francis signed a note Oct. 1 ordering the Mater Ecclesiae monastery to resume its original purpose as a home within the Vatican walls for communities of contemplative nuns, the Vatican said Monday. St. John Paul II had created the monastery for that purpose in 1994.Francis invited a community of Benedictine nuns from his native Buenos Aires to take up residence starting in January, the Vatican said in a statement. The aim is for the six sisters of the Benedictine Order of the Abbey of St. Scholastica of Victoria to support the pope’s ministry through their prayers, “thus being a prayerful presence in silence and solitude,” it said. When Benedict decided in 2012 he would retire in early February 2013, he had the recently vacated monastery renovated in secret so it would be ready for him and his papal family to move into.
